The new Pioneer Room was opened on June 19th. The room was completely painted by our Wednesday Volunteer crew with materials left over from the construction of the James S. Flanagan Research Center. New track lighting has also been installed, thanks to a grant from the R.C. Smith Foundation. The new exhibit covers the history of Chenango County from 1789 to 1900. The extensive story boards cover the histories of the Clinton-Sullivan Campaign, the Vermont Sufferers, The Juliand Family, Pioneer Folk Life and more. Notable items on exhibit are ladies fashions, the Juliand Flow Blue collection, artworks, pioneer era guns, and the Ox Cart. The new exhibit has already been utilized for CCHS’s education programming and will be featured in our new Distance Learning presentations.
