In 1885, the Reverend Lafayette Moore arrived in the village of Norwich with his pill making equipment, starting his one-man business on the third floor of a brick building on the corner of Mitchell and State Streets. From this beginning would evolve The Norwich Pharmacal Company, a highly respected, world renowned pharmaceutical house. The Company provided hundreds of research, manufacturing, marketing and allied jobs, employing many talented and skilled professionals, delivering quality products and breakthroughs in drug therapy. A changing business environment and certain decisions made over the years would result in the Company’s final closure in 2009. Those who experienced the era of The Norwich Pharmacal Company will always honor its memory. This history was developed to preserve its rich history, by telling the stories of the dedicated men and women of talent and skill who contributed to the legacy of The Norwich Pharmacal Company.
