NORWICH, N.Y. – The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) invites community members to participate in this year’s reimagined annual “Friends Helping Friends” event hosted by Boscov’s department store. With no tickets to purchase in advance this year, everyone is invited!
To allow for social distancing and avoid crowds, the festivities have been expanded to two days. From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 15, all shoppers will receive a 20 percent discount off the lowest sale prices. When shoppers select the Chenango County Historical Society from the list of participating organizations prior to checkout either in-store or online, Boscov’s will donate 5 percent of that total purchase to support operations at the museum, located at 45 Rexford St., Norwich.
“We are always grateful for this annual fundraiser, and we really appreciate the modifications that Boscov’s has made to accommodate our current public health crisis,” said Jessica Moquin, CCHS executive director. “Shopping this year will be convenient and safe, while still providing an opportunity for our organization to receive essential financial support.”
The primary organization dedicated to actively and comprehensively preserving the history of Chenango County, CCHS celebrates local culture – unique traditions, noteworthy residents, and unusual stories. In response to the global pandemic, operations at CCHS have been modified to protect the health of staff, volunteers, and visitors. The museum has been utilizing a variety of digital and virtual resources to accomplish the organization’s mission and to remain connected to the community.
