2026 “Parade of Trees”

Trees will be on display December 6 – December 31, 2026

Celebrate with us! Decorate an artificial evergreen tree (provided by and displayed at the museum) highlighting Chenango County culture, history, and heritage. This year, inspiration around the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United State is encouraged. This might include buildings, businesses, community scenes, festivals, landmarks, milestones, organizations, parks, people – anything that celebrates any aspect of Chenango County and its place in American history. (Themed submissions are encouraged, not required.)

Parade Highlights

“People’s Choice” Tree Decorating Contest: Museum visitors to the Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) can vote for their favorite tree by making coin and cash donations into the corresponding container, while virtual supporters can vote for their favorite tree by making an online donation. Whichever tree container accumulates the greatest total by the conclusion of the contest (4 pm on December 31, 2026) will be deemed the winner! The winning tree’s earnings will be split evenly between the Organization and CCHS. (Earnings from all other tree votes will support the mission of CCHS.)

Tree Decorating Times

Decorate your tree on the following days from 10:00 AM – 4 PM: November 29th, November 30th or December 1st.

Please note that trees and tree locations are assigned at the discretion of CCHS.

I understand that to be eligible for competition, my tree must be decorated than no later than Tuesday, December 1, 2026 by 4 pm. Failure to do so may result in removal from competition and exclusion from 2027 Parade of Trees. In the event that my organization can no longer participate, I will inform CCHS no later than 4pm on Friday, November 13th. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from 2027 Parade of Trees. All trees must have decorations removed between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm on January 4th or 5th, 2027. After that time, decorations become the property of CCHS. Permission is hereby granted for CCHS to print and otherwise duplicate the picture or likeness of my entry and/or myself with my entry for internal and external release - this includes print and on-line publications. I understand that CCHS does not guarantee the safety and security of my decorations and cannot be held responsible for any damages. *
