NORWICH, N.Y. – The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) seeks interview subjects for a documentary to commemorate Ward School No. 2, which will celebrate its quasquicentennial – or 125th anniversary – on Nov. 21. In anticipation of this milestone anniversary, CCHS is focused on sharing the history of this regional landmark, which plays a vital role in accomplishing the organization’s mission.
Ward School No. 2 was acquired by CCHS from the City of Norwich in 1958; renovations began immediately thereafter. Since reopening as a museum in 1962, Ward School No. 2 has been the home of CCHS for more than five decades.
Thanks to a recent grant, CCHS has hired Steve Craig of Craig Creative Services to produce documentary-style video vignettes featuring interviews with former students of Ward School No. 2. Local company Craig Creative Services offers video acquisition, writing, post-production, podcasting, and other media services.
“We are very grateful for the support allowing us to embark on this unique project, and we are really looking forward to working with Steve,” said Jessica Moquin, CCHS executive director. “Sharing the history of Ward School No. 2 and student memories from within these walls is very exciting! We can’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate this milestone than with a professionally-produced video series.”
CCHS invites any former students to participate in this project; filming is scheduled to begin next month. Interested interview subjects can email: info@ChenangoHistorical.org to volunteer or for additional information about the documentary.
The primary organization dedicated to actively and comprehensively preserving the history of Chenango County, CCHS celebrates local culture – unique traditions, noteworthy residents, and unusual stories.
